eSIM: The digital SIM card
The eSIM is the digital successor to the traditional SIM card. Instead of inserting a physical card, an eSIM is built directly into your device and receives all the information you need from a digital eSIM profile.
With an eSIM, you can easily use multiple numbers on the same smartphone, activate or switch profiles digitally, and enjoy full flexibility without waiting for postal delivery or searching for the right SIM card format. All yallo mobile subscriptions and prepaid products are available with eSIM.
An eSIM also offers several advantages:
Order an eSIM
For new orders:
① Select the eSIM option when ordering your mobile subscription.
② Once your subscription is activated, your eSIM QR code will be available in your my yallo account.
For existing customers:
① Log in to your my yallo account and request an eSIM under My Settings > Switch to eSIM.
② After completing the order, your eSIM QR code will be available in your my yallo account.
Alternatively, you can convert a physical SIM card to an eSIM (on the same device) – without needing a QR code.
💡 Switching to an eSIM usually costs CHF 40 – but it’s free on my yallo as part of a special offer!
Set up your eSIM
With an eSIM profile as a QR code:
① On your device, go to Settings > Mobile Network > Add eSIM and scan the QR code.
② Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
With an eSIM profile without QR code:
If your eSIM is linked to your device, you’ll automatically receive a message on your phone and can complete the installation by following the on-screen instructions.

Convert your SIM to eSIM
As a yallo customer, you can easily convert your physical SIM card to an eSIM directly on your current device – without needing a QR code.

Transfer your SIM or eSIM to a new device
If you get a new smartphone, you can easily move your existing SIM to your new device – either by transferring your eSIM from your old device, or by transferring your physical SIM card to your new device as an eSIM during setup.

ℹ️ For other devices, you can order an eSIM as usual in your my yallo account and install it on your new device using the QR code.
Problems with eSIM
I deleted my eSIM by mistake. How can I get it back?
You can generate a new QR code for your eSIM anytime in your my yallo account. After generating it, scan the QR code or enter the activation code shown below it to install your eSIM profile.
I cannot scan the QR code or it does not work.
Make sure your new device supports eSIM and that you have a stable internet connection.
If the QR code still does not work, you can manually enter the activation code displayed below the QR code in your my yallo account.
My phone was lost or stolen. How can I block my eSIM?
If your phone is lost or stolen, please contact us immediately so we can block your eSIM and issue a new one.
Frequently asked questions
Which devices are compatible with eSIM?
Almost all new smartphones, watches, and tablets with cellular connectivity support eSIM, including:
- iPhone 11 series and newer, as well as iPhone XS, XR, and iPhone SE 2022
- Apple Watch Series 3 and newer
- Apple iPad 2018 Cellular and newer
- Samsung Galaxy S20 series and newer, including all Galaxy Z Flip and Fold
- Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Cellular and newer
- Google Pixel 4 and newer
Some new models no longer include a SIM card slot, making devices slimmer or freeing up space for larger batteries and other components.
What does Dual SIM mean and can I use an eSIM with it?
Dual SIM means that a smartphone can run two phone numbers or two different mobile plans at the same time.
Yes, you can use an eSIM with Dual SIM – either as the primary SIM or as the second SIM, depending on your device. Some smartphones support two eSIMs active at once, while others combine one eSIM with a physical SIM card. On many newer models, you can also store several eSIM profiles and switch between them easily, even though only two can be active at the same time.
Can I use an eSIM and a physical SIM at the same time?
Yes. Many smartphones support Dual SIM mode, which allows you to use an eSIM and a physical SIM simultaneously. We recommend checking your device manufacturer’s specifications to confirm compatibility.
How does WhatsApp work with eSIM or Dual SIM?
WhatsApp works with an eSIM the same way it does with a regular SIM card. However, WhatsApp supports only one phone number per device.
How do I activate the SIM PIN on my eSIM?
By default, the PIN lock is disabled. You can activate it directly in your device settings.
The original PIN code can be found in your my yallo account.
Can I switch back to a physical SIM?
Yes, you can switch back to a physical SIM card whenever needed.

How can I gift or sell a device with an eSIM?
If you plan to gift or sell a device that uses an eSIM, make sure to remove the eSIM profile first.
Open Settings on your device, go to General > Reset, and select Erase All Content and Settings to delete all data and eSIM information.
