3G Network Shutdown

Sunrise is phasing out its outdated 3G mobile technology to make way for faster, more efficient 4G and 5G networks.

This change is essential to free up capacity and improve energy efficiency, ensuring yallo customers benefit from a faster and more reliable mobile experience starting from 10th June.

What this means for you:

If you are using a device that only supports 3G technology, you will no longer be able to make calls, send texts, or use mobile data after 10th June. The 3G network will be gradually phased out starting on June 10. From that date onward, 3G coverage will no longer be available nationwide.

This includes:

Customers with older mobile phones that do not support 4G or 5G.

Customers using 3G-only SIM cards or devices.

Customers whose devices do not support VoLTE (Voice over LTE) – which is required for making voice calls on 4G and 5G networks.

To continue enjoying uninterrupted mobile services, you must upgrade to a 4G or 5G compatible device as soon as possible.

Most modern devices already support 4G, 5G, and VoLTE, so upgrading is simple and ensures you stay connected without any hassle.

If your device already supports 4G and VoLTE, you’re all set! You won’t be affected by the shutdown and will automatically benefit from an even faster and more reliable network.

As a valued yallo customer, your satisfaction is our priority. For any 3G questions, call our free dedicated numbers: 0800 733 744 (available from 09:30 to 19:30). Our team is ready to assist you in selecting the right device and preparing for the future.

Sunrise network coverage:

Sunrise covers over 99.9% of the Swiss population with its 4G network and over 99.5% with its 5G network. This means that 4G and 5G coverage is significantly broader than what was previously available with the 3G network.
